So, I made a pavlova…

So, I made a pavlova,
A decadent sweet,
Just saying, ‘pavlova’
Is for this gal, a treat!

Meringue of white sugar
With egg whites whipped stiff,
What my whisk couldn’t handle,
My stand mixer did;

The recipe called for
A curd made of lemon,
Chef John, just a taste of it
Sent me to Heaven!

Then I took blueberries
Reduced into sauce,
Took a spoon and made sure
It was drizzled on top.

And though I’m not prone
To oblige my sweet tooth,
I did, and will do it again,
Yes, it’s truth.

It made Easter special
As it always is,
With worship and music,
With bunnies and chicks;

But, may I keep first
In my heart EVERY day,
Is my Saviour, He LIVES!
Jesus conquered the grave!

Easter 2021

“The resurrection was indeed a miraculous display of God’s power, but we should not see it
as a suspension of the natural order of the world.

Rather it was the beginning of the restoration of the natural order of the world,
the world as God intended it to be…

The resurrection means not merely that Christians have a hope for the future but that they have a hope that comes from the future.

The Bible’s startling message is that when Jesus rose, he brought the future kingdom of God into the present.”

Timothy Keller “Hope In Times of Fear”

Valentine…

With surgery scheduled and unforeseen events accounted for (as best as I’m able) I wanted an early finish on a special valentine fabric postcard for my 3 year old grandson, Max. Though the text is original, the pattern was one I saw on Pinterest and drafted, making a few changes, then pulled out fabrics and paper-pieced it with less drama than anticipated. (YAY and PHEW! with forehead swipe!) Still yet to do is to add the text (below) to the back of the card.
Thanks for stopping by!

Dear Max I’ve sent this valentine
A snowman with a heart,
To make you smile and tell you
How very loved you are!

Blessed Assurance

And in other news…last night we passed by a house on the lake road where a Christmas tree gleamed and glittered from its picture window. What a statement of hope the sight of it spoke to me.

Too early, you say? It would be for some, like us, who still go to the local tree farm and buy a fresh tree. It could be the folks who live there are like so many who put up their tree before Thanksgiving. But further down the road, I wondered if they might be feeling these words that came to mind from the musical “Mame”…

“For I’ve grown a little leaner,
Grown a little colder,
Grown a little sadder,
Grown a little older,
And I need a little angel
Sitting on my shoulder;
I need a little Christmas now.” (“Mame”)

For whatever reason the tree was there in the window, shining in all its glory, it could be you are, as I am, from time to time feeling these words. Seeing that tree was, for me, the assurance that Christmas is still as planned as it was at creation. God knew we’d need one 2,000+ years ago and considering the struggles, suffering, and loss that have taken place in 2020, He knows we need one even more this year…
